Indole-3-Carbinol is a powerful antioxidant found in the cell walls of cruciferous vegetables. The compounds in these vegetables that may protect cells from oxidative damage are called indoles, among them Indole-3-Carbinol and its metabolites. These compounds may work by binding to or activating certain receptors in the body to protect cells. Indole-3-Carbinol also acts as an antioxdant. This compound may be helpful in the metabolism of estrogens, protecting breast tissue and reproductive organs from cell damage.
